John Edward

John Edward, a native New Mexican, is the owner and founder of The Edward Group. The Edward Group started in 1996 and has been a growing and successful company. Growth has continued every year since 1996 in terms of more satisfied clients. John has been in the financial services industry since 1989. Also in 1989 he received his real estate broker’s license after successfully graduating as student athlete from New Mexico State University. At NMSU while setting school and NCAA records in baseball, he majored in both finance and real estate. While finishing his double major John played Professional Baseball in the Cincinnati Red’s and California Angels minor league systems.
In 1994 he earned his life and health license and a Series 6 and 63 after earning his MBA in Policy and Planning and Business Development from The University of New Mexico’s Anderson Schools and Fellowship at Georgetown University. Most recently, John was married in 2006. His wife Gayle is an RN. She along with John and their side kicks Sancho and Penny travel up streams fly fishing and tackle mountain trails (hiking, biking and skiing) in search of the best place to wash away the troubles of the day. You might also find them gardening and enjoying their cooking together or getting dusty renovating their 1928 home.
Insurance
John has discovered that as an independent agent working with many carriers, that he can always find a good match between a client’s needs and that of a fine carrier’s product. There are over 35 carriers, which John is appointed with and he has access to many others if need be. As times change these appointments with carriers may change as market conditions change or if new and unique clients needs demand it.
Both group and individual insurance programs are available to John’s clients. Neither group nor individual coverage alone is considered upon meeting clients’ needs. Since John has experience in both sectors, John can provide thoughtful advice about which might be appropriate or that maybe a combination of the two might be a fine solution for the client. Rarely will you find that insurance agents possessing both skills. Furthermore, in situations where health insurance is called for, John will enlist a strategic and cooperative arrangement with Lori Beverly of LMN & Associates, Inc. She is a broker who focuses on both group and individual health insurance plans.
Real Estate
John since getting his degree in real estate and his broker’s license in 1989 has had a broad experience in different real estate transactions. He has worked with both buyers and sellers. Properties have included the full range from single-family homes, condos, lots, farm land, acreage up to thousand acre master planned properties. While situations and numbers vary most transaction always have the same elements. However, if John Edward feels as though the transaction is beyond his firm’s scope in terms of time or knowledge. John will suggest a co-brokerage arrangement with another brokerage or refer a client to another brokerage with more resources in order to handle and close the transaction.
Clientele
Clients range far and wide. They include financial institutions, doctors, nurses, medical practices, architects and architectural firms, governmental/tribal agencies, attorneys and attorney firms, professional associations and their membership, accountants and accounting firms, teachers, principals, dentists and commercial real estate firms, not-for-profit agencies and even insurance and real estate agents.
John has had success in his business. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 John earned an Inner Circle designation for one of his carriers, Guardian. John is the only person in the state of New Mexico to ever earn this and places him in the top 1% for that carrier nationwide as a broker.
John is committed to his community too and not just work. Since starting The Edward Group John has served on several different boards for 501c3s, been involved in Rotary Club, volunteered at various events and most recently is part of Albuquerque Reads program. Also during this time John had a radio show, which he hoped would broaden and raise the standard of covered news in the areas of business/economic development, policy and planning, music and Not-for-Profit (501c3) agencies. His show not only was done gratis for four years, but also worked to mentor 5 high school students in the production of the shows.
